Margareta FEREK-PETRIC New Work* (WP)
Arnold SCHÖNBERG III. Streichquartett op. 30 (introduction: Thomas Wally)
*Commissioned work ensemble LUX

Margareta Ferek-Petric’s music is characterised by its richly-coloured textures, expressive power, and impulsiveness. With her 2024 musical setting of Schönberg’s fairy tale “The Princess,” she created a lighthearted musical theatre piece for children in which she reinterpreted the Viennese master’s music with a blend of affection and irony. In this concert, ensemble LUX presents a new string quartet by Ferek-Petric, accompanied by an introductory musical presentation of the work. The program will also feature Schönberg’s Opus 30, composed in 1927: formally rooted in the classical tradition, yet unmistakably a modernist work in its sound.
