Arnold Schönberg’s childhood friend Alexander Zemlinsky enjoyed early success as an opera composer. As a special event in the symposium “Alexander Zemlinsky – Composer and Conductor of Classical Modernism” (November 19-20, 2021, Musikverein), the renowned Zemlinsky researcher Antony Beaumont will give a lecture on the composer’s early opera fragments, with two world premieres to be heard alongside many musical examples.
