“The popular impact of popular music is based on its broad comprehensibility. Nevertheless, true connoisseurs distinguish original from unoriginal, good from bad.” Arnold Schönberg always paid great respect to the entertaining genre. He mentioned Johann Strauss in the same breath as the “masters of classical art,” since folklore never called into question the artistic integrity of his works. The Serenade Concert invites the audience to a colorful journey of discovery, ranging from Viennese waltzes to pop songs and the choral music of Paul Hindemith.
