Petr Popelka, Chief Conductor of the Wiener Symphoniker since 2024, will be making his debut at the Arnold Schönberg Center with this concert. The focal point will be the epochal melodrama cycle “Pierrot lunaire.” The maestro will play the piano part together with members of the Wiener Symphoniker, while the vocal part is performed by the acclaimed mezzo-soprano Christina Bock. In addition to a piece by Zoltán Kodály, the concert will also include Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s “Songs of the Clown” on texts by William Shakespeare, which the composer wrote during his American exile for a production by the director Max Reinhardt.

6.30 pm: Curator’s tour with Therese Muxeneder through the exhibition “Painted music. A Visit to Arnold Schönberg’s Atelier” and Autograph presentation with Eike Feß | reservation required
