On the occasion of Schönberg’s 150th birthday, a comprehensive survey of his complete works is published – with current research results, analytical and essayistic contributions, a detailed chronicle and indexes of works. Schönberg’s “life worlds” provide the background for detailed individual discussions of the compositions. In the systematic passage, fundamental questions of musical poetics or erformance theory are addressed, in addition to the writings and visual art works. A separate main section is devoted to the epoch-making impact of this œuvre: from the beginnings of the Viennese School to the current reception in the 21^st century.
