Arnold Schönberg’s birthday offers an opportunity this year to congratulate an important ambassador of his music. The Arnold Schoenberg Chor, founded in 1972 by Erwin Ortner, is celebrating its 50^th anniversary! Besides Schönberg’s folk-song arrangements, and his setting of Psalm 130, the composer’s major choral work “Friede auf Erden” (Peace on Earth) based on a pacifist text by poet Conrad Ferdinand Meyer are on the program for this special event. A reading from Arnold Schönberg's correspondence by the actor Joachim Bißmeier enriches the music of this evening.
