The Schönberg Ensemble--founded (1974) by musicians generally associated with the Koninklijk Conservatorium of The Hague. The Ensemble performs music of the 19th and 20th centuries, especially the works of Schoenberg. The Schönberg Kvartet was founded (1976) by members of the Ensemble. The violist of the Quartet, Henk Guittart, is a proponent of the music of Schoenberg, and has been the organizing force behind many Schoenberg-related projects and events.
