Halsey Stevens--American composer, musicologist, and teacher. He studied with William Berwald at Syracuse University, and Ernest Bloch at the University of California at Berkeley. He taught at several universities, including (starting 1948) the University of Southern California. He was an authority on Béla Bartók. He wrote record liner notes. He conducted a broadcast interview of Schoenberg (1950).
