The New York Public Library--established in 1895, it is the largest collection in the world. Its research branch at Lincoln Center contains divisions of music, dance, recorded sound, and theater. The Research Music Division incorporates a repository of manuscripts, including some pertaining to Schoenberg. Collections of interest include those of Marya Freund, Louis Gruenberg, and the League of Composers.
