Lawrence Morton--music critic and brilliant concert organizer (particularly of contemporary music) active in Los Angeles from the early 1950s. He was born in Minnesota, and moved to California (late 1930s). He was director of the Monday Evening Concerts (1954-1971), artistic director of the Ojai Festival (1954-1959, 1967-1970, 1982-1984), and curator of music at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (from 1965). He maintained particularly close relationships with Igor Stravinsky and Ingolf Dahl. He wrote about Schoenberg in the magazine Arts & Architecture (Jan. 1950).
