Ernst Krenek--noted Austrian composer, who utilized Schoenberg's twelve-tone technique. He studied with Franz Schreker (1923-1925) and Paul Bekker (1925-1927). He was a correspondent of the Frankfurter Zeitung (1930-1933). He came to the United States in 1937, eventually becoming a citizen in 1945. He taught at Vassar College (1939-1942) and Hamline University (1942-1947). He lived principally in California (1947-1992), but when in Austria, he frequently lived in the Schönberg Mödling house.
