Rose Bampton – mezzo-soprano, and later a soprano, who sang at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, as well as with the world's other major opera houses. She sang the role of the Wooddove in Schoenberg's Gurre-Lieder in the American first performances by Leopold Stokowski (1932). She also frequently performed Schoenberg's "Lied der Waldtaube" from Gurre-Lieder and his Buch der hängenden Gärten, op. 15.
