Ernest Becker – 1939 emigré to the United States who had met Schoenberg in Vienna at private concerts sponsored by the banker Emil Bardach. He obtained a Handexemplare of Schoenberg's Gurre-Lieder, which was eventually deposited in the library of the University California at Berkeley.
