Arnold Schönberg was not the only one to have created his songs while, as he put it, “inspired by the sound of the first words of the text”. The renowned American composer Geoffrey Gordon also uses inspiration as a motor for the creative process, where musical forms and structures give rise to deeply felt expression. Tobias Greenhalgh, winner of the 2015 Hilde Zadek Competition, invites us to experience the “ecstasy of composing” in his second recital at the Arnold Schönberg Center.
